Anemonoides nemorosa (syn. Anemone nemorosa), the wood anemone, is a late-winter blossoming plant in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae, local to Europe. Other basic names incorporate windflower, thimbleweed, and smell fox, an inference to the musky smell of the leaves. It is a lasting herbaceous plant growing 5–15 cm (2–6 in) tall.
