Ayani Chakka is a fruit that is grown in a large evergreen tree that has leaves alternate simple with latex. Flowers of this tree are in axillary inflorescence. Fruit is called as "Durian" and is a syncarp, cylindrical with small spines (echinate) and orange in color when ripe. Before Aini maram was commonly seen in the compounds of Kerala houses. It can now seen in semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forest. Aini Chakka is a native of South West India. Durian fruit trees is known as Ayani chakka in Malayalam had dwindled in due to its medicinal properties. It is called as Aanjili chakka in Malayalam. In Tamil, it is called as Mull Narai Pazham.
