Arinellikka as called in malayalam is actually star gooseberry. This fruit falls in gooseberry group but smaller and little bit sour in taste. In older days it was widely seen at every home of Kerala. People cut down this good and tasty fruit tree. Actually we doesn't understand the importance of these fruits before cutting down. We are cutting down gooseberry trees in our home and buying the pesticided fruits from outside. We must replant these to make our life better. Ari Nellikka can be used to make Pickles (Acharu) or put in Salt Water (Uppillittadhu). Arinellikka uppillittadhu is very tasty and make my mouth watering.
